The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) aims to give control to citizens and residents over their personal data and to simplify the regulatory environment for businesses. It replaces the 1995 Data Protection Directive.
We have evaluated our processes and you can be assured that Southview Surveyors are GDPR-compliant. We will only ever use your information regarding a current survey and will never pass it on to an unrelated third party.
What information do we hold?
In order to process your Surveys we hold contact details of the property to be surveyed and the applicant. We also hold details of the condition and size of the property, ownership status, tenure and other information we may need to provide you with a valuation of your property.
How is your data stored and protected?
Our internal administration at Southview Surveyors is protected by Web.Secure. Data is kept in a form which permits identification of data subjects for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which the personal data are processed; once this time period lapses any personal data in paper format will be securely shredded.
Valuation, property and contact data are stored on a MySQL database at the Heart Internet data centre in Leeds. Heart Internet are fully GDPR-compliant and our staff access the information via a secure, encrypted connection and password-protected logins. Data relating to a survey is stored for 6 years to comply with our RICS requirements.
Who is it shared with?
All information is treated as sensitive and no information is shared with any individuals outside of staff and relevant panel managers if any, whichever is applicable for each survey.
Review or removal of your data
You can contact us via firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 0844 800 6557 to ask what information we hold about you. You have the right to request that the data be updated if inaccurate or removed if it is no longer necessary for us to store it in relation to an ongoing survey, an invoice or our RICS responsibilities. We will respond promptly to your request within regular working hours.
